Monotype on Momigami Paper
This series of work is built through layers of media. The process begins with Momigami or Japanese paste paper. Kozo paper is stained with watercolor and inks to create a crinkled and cracked surface.
The momigami paper is very abstract and reveals patterns and unexpected surface qualities. The next layer of work is an intuitive reaction to the surface and the application of relief and or silkscreen monotype.
The third layer of the work included mixed media drawing on the rough surfaces to refine and enhance spatial qualities and details of the image.
The subject matter explores natural and manmade spaces as complex patterns of texture shape and color.
